The Andean cat (Leopardus jacobita) is one of the rarest and most elusive wild cats in the world, found in the high-altitude regions of the Andes Mountains in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru. It has a thick, soft coat with a silvery-gray base and dark rosettes and stripes, perfectly blending into rocky, mountainous terrain. The Andean cat has a long, bushy tail marked with dark rings, which helps with balance on steep slopes. It primarily hunts mountain vizcachas and other small mammals. Due to its limited range, low population, and habitat degradation, the Andean cat is classified as endangered.
