The Bornean bay cat (Catopuma badia) is one of the rarest and least understood wild cats in the world, found only on the island of Borneo. Slightly smaller than a domestic cat, it has a sleek, reddish-brown or grayish coat, a long tail, and faint markings on its face and limbs. Secretive and highly elusive, it inhabits dense tropical rainforests and is primarily nocturnal. Little is known about its behavior or ecology, but it likely preys on birds, rodents, and small reptiles. Due to habitat loss from deforestation and its limited range, the Bornean bay cat is classified as endangered and remains a high conservation priority.
