The clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa) is a medium-sized wild cat native to the forests of Southeast Asia, including the Himalayan foothills, southern China, and mainland Southeast Asia. It has a beautifully patterned coat with large, cloud-like spots on a background of tan or grayish fur, providing superb camouflage in dense jungle. Clouded leopards are known for their exceptional climbing skills, aided by strong limbs, rotating ankles, and a long, bushy tail for balance. They are solitary and primarily nocturnal, preying on birds, monkeys, deer, and small mammals. With unusually long canine teeth relative to skull size, they are considered a primitive form of big cat. Habitat loss and poaching have led to their classification as vulnerable.
