The Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) is the largest of the lynx species and one of the most powerful wild cats in Europe and Asia. It has a sturdy build, long legs, tufted ears, and a short tail with a black tip. Its thick fur varies from reddish or golden-brown in summer to pale gray in winter, often marked with dark spots. Solitary and stealthy, the Eurasian lynx is primarily crepuscular and preys on deer, hares, and other small to medium-sized animals. It inhabits forests, mountains, and taiga regions. Though recovering in some areas, it remains vulnerable due to habitat loss and human encroachment.
