The greater hog badger (Arctonyx collaris) is a large, sturdy mustelid native to the forests and grasslands of South and Southeast Asia, including parts of India, China, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. It has a broad, powerful body, a thick coat ranging from grayish to brown, and a distinctive white facial pattern with a pink, pig-like snout used for rooting in soil. Unlike many badgers, it is often active during the day. An omnivore, it feeds on insects, small animals, roots, and fruit. The greater hog badger is listed as Vulnerable due to habitat loss and hunting across much of its range.
