The marbled cat (Pardofelis marmorata) is a small, tree-dwelling wild feline native to the dense tropical forests of Southeast Asia, from the Himalayas to Borneo and Sumatra. It has a striking coat patterned with large, irregular dark blotches and stripes on a soft gray or golden-brown background, giving it a marbled appearance. About the size of a domestic cat, it has an unusually long tail—often as long as its body—which aids in balance while navigating through trees. The marbled cat is solitary, elusive, and primarily nocturnal, hunting birds, squirrels, and reptiles. Due to habitat loss and deforestation, it is classified as vulnerable.
