Rüppell’s fox (Vulpes rueppellii) is a small, desert-adapted canid native to North Africa and parts of the Middle East. It has a pale sandy-gray coat, large ears for heat regulation, and a bushy tail with a white tip. Well-suited for arid environments, this fox is nocturnal and digs deep burrows to escape the daytime heat. It feeds on insects, small mammals, birds, and fruit, showing great adaptability in its diet. Shy and elusive, Rüppell’s fox is usually seen alone or in pairs, and it plays an important role in desert ecosystems as both predator and scavenger.
