The Sunda clouded leopard (Neofelis diardi), distinct from its mainland relative, is a rare and elusive wild cat found on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra. Slightly smaller than the clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa), it has a darker coat with more pronounced cloud-like markings, which provide excellent camouflage in dense tropical rainforests. This arboreal predator is a skilled climber, using its strong limbs, long tail, and flexible ankles to move through the trees with ease. Mostly nocturnal and solitary, it preys on monkeys, birds, deer, and small mammals. Threatened by deforestation and habitat fragmentation, the Sunda clouded leopard is classified as vulnerable.
