The wolverine (Gulo gulo) is the largest member of the weasel family, known for its strength, endurance, and solitary nature. Native to the northern boreal forests, tundra, and alpine regions of North America, Europe, and Asia, it has a stocky, muscular build, thick dark brown fur with lighter facial and body markings, and large paws that help it travel across snow. Despite its bear-like appearance, it is a fierce scavenger and predator, feeding on carrion, small to medium-sized mammals, and birds. Wolverines are highly territorial and roam vast areas. Though classified as Least Concern globally, they are considered threatened in parts of their range due to habitat fragmentation and climate change.
